Thoughts on Gideon
Recently, I’ve been doing a book study on the life of Gideon. Gideon is only mentioned in 3 chapters in the whole Bible.
From Priscilla Shirer: “Gideon’s story is much bigger than…well…
Gideon…his story is actually about God and His people. It tells of His love for them, His enduring and boundless mercy toward them, and His strength operating in spite of - even through-weakness. Gideon is among a nation of people who have stopped moving forward. They were choosing to stand still when God said ‘GO’. And Gideon’s story is also about us - our lives, our doubts, our struggles, and our possibilities as believers.”
How often do I get distracted by the things around me that I miss the green light - my chance to ‘GO’?
Some of my notes:
*Gideon is marked by insecurity, fear, timidity. I understand where he is. Judges 6:11-14
*Others look at the things they think will help them win, I need to trust in God only.
*Love God with my whole being. He has already delivered, provided and protected.
*Every thing in my life is either God arranged or God allowed.
*I cannot outrun or hide from God.
*I am never out of reach of God’s arm. Isaiah 59:1
*Choose to be faithful in the small things. God will honor faithfulness (even when it is hard to be faithful). Hebrews 11:32-34
