Some Final Thoughts...

Just over eight years ago my family and I pulled into Jackson, Mississippi to begin a relationship with this great church and the wonderful people in this community.  Well, it’s hard to believe today is my last day as your pastor.  You may not remember, but my first Sunday we voted to purchase the land where we are currently located.  That set a vision and plan in motion which we have realized.  God has been faithful through it all.

I have so many wonderful and fulfilling memories of all we have experienced together as a church family.  Many people have been blessed and helped by your love, sacrifice and encouragement.  Many have come to know Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and Lord.  Many have become involved in ministries locally and throughout the world.  Many have been called out of this church to serve the Lord in full time vocational ministry.  I could go on and on.

My family and I have been richly blessed by your love and ministry to us.  We have made friends for all of eternity.  I especially want to thank those who have invested in the lives of my children.  They have grown and matured emotionally and spiritually by your example, friendship and the teaching of God’s Word.  You may not have thought you were making a difference in their lives when they sat in your Lifegroup class or Bible study or when you wrote a note of encouragement, but you did.  You helped affirm what we have been teaching in our home.  Karen and I cannot thank you enough.

God has been faithful to Colonial Heights in the past, and He will certainly do the same in the years to come.  God has already chosen your next pastor, and he will have the privilege of pastoring one of the greatest churches on earth.  I will be his greatest fan.  You will always be in my thoughts and prayers.  I love you!
