A Memorial Day Weekend Message
Posted:05-28-2008Today, I am with Andrea, on her school’s annual rafting trip. Thank you for allowing me time away from you to spend with my daughter. In my absence, Todd Dorsey and John Patterson have graciously agreed to preach.
This is Memorial Day weekend when we remember those who have given their lives for the freedom our nation enjoys. We often think of this weekend as nothing more than another holiday weekend without giving much thought to what it really signifies. I hope you will take time to give thanks to the Lord for those who have sacrificed their lives and for those who are currently serving in our military. We are a blessed nation and it’s because of those who have sacrificed their lives and the grace of God. Both deserve our honor!
Vacation Bible School begins in just a few weeks. If you have not indicated to us that you are willing to help, we need to know that immediately. Please call the church office this week and let us know of your availability. Your investment in the lives of the children who attend will produce an eternal dividend. I’m simply amazed year after year how many children come to know the Lord during this particular week. If you cannot help that week, you can still participate by praying for the workers and children who come.
