Pomp and Circumstance

Graduation is the theme of the day. Last weekend Solid Ground and Colonial Heights recognized our graduates. I just wanted to recap some of what was shared with our seniors and their parents over the weekend.

First, the staff and leadership of Solid Ground thanks families for sharing their students with us for the years they have been with us. It is our priviledge to serve students and their families. Parents can be sure that while in our ministry, their students have been exposed to the Word of God through solid Biblical teaching. They have been loved by adults who love the Lord. And they have been offered the opportunity to grow in their faith and to practice turning that faith into a lifestyle.

Secondly, their growth doesn't end with their graduation from high school. Our graduates were reminded many times last weekend that the end of high school doesn't mean the end of their church involvement. They have been encouraged and admonished to remain involved in a body of believers, whether that be here at Colonial Heights or away at college. The transition to adulthood and independence is full of potential pitfalls. Those pitfalls are more easily navigated when a young person remains grounded in his faith.

Finally, our prayers go with our students. We don't stop loving you or caring about you when you leave us. Know that each of us is available to you at any time. Our prayer for you is: "That your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ-to the glory and praise of God." (Philippians 1:9-11)
