NANo Vision: Sold Out Living 6 - Romans 12: 1-2

02/13/2008

The object of our salvation is to make us conform to the will of God. What does God’s Word tell us about this?
--We are to live in a particular way. (Mark 12:30-31)
--We are to be holy. (Leviticus 11:44)
--We are special. (1 Peter 2:9)
In His Word we discover some things about the will of God.
--The will of God is good. God is always good—He always works out all things for our good and His glory. (Psalm 73) Romans 8:28)
--“Good and acceptable”—We discover God’s will is good; we also begin to like it and rejoice in it. (Psalm 1:1-2)
*Can we delight in the Lord when things are not going great? (John 16:33, 2 Timothy 3:12)
*Just realize you are where you are for a purpose, and accept your position as a learning time. (Psalm 119:71, 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18).
--God’s will is “perfect.” His plan for us is perfection. We cannot be perfect in this life, but we are to strive for perfection.
*We are to let the Holy Spirit in us make us more like Him every day. (Matt. 5:48, 1 Thessalonians 5:23)
*We will be perfect when we enter our eternal home.
 (Revelation 21:27, Ephesians 5:27)
We must learn how to “put feet to our Lord’s will.” Our works:
--God is not impressed with our work if our walk is not in obedience to Him. (1 Chronicles 29:17, Proverbs 11:20)
--Our main interest should never be in what we are doing but on what He is doing.
--Spiritual gifts—Romans 12:6, Ephesians 4:7—Each one of us has been given some spiritual gift to use to serve God and the Lord’s church.
--Jesus determines the amount of that gift and the grace to do it.
