The Value of Correction

Correcting children can be exasperating. Part of the problem is that children don’t usually value correction. Instead they become defensive, offer excuses, blame others, or even blame themselves. These manipulative techniques cause children to miss the benefits of correction. Of course, it’s not just a kid problem. How do you respond when your spouse or co-worker offers some helpful criticism? What about from your children? If you are going to help children learn to respond well to correction, you must start by giving them a vision for its benefits. Talk to your kids about things you’ve’ learned when others have correction you. Proverbs is full of verses that talk about the value of correction. You might want to do a study of them with your children.

The Developing Prayer Life

Many people pray only when all else fails. We need to have a regular, earnest and persistent prayer life. We must not be content with where we are spiritually. The Lord God wants us to press on by daily surrender in prayers. The Lord would like to guide us during every step of our day; all we have to do is listen to Him. We go through three stages as we develop our prayer life. First, we’re disciplined in our prayers, then our prayer becomes heartfelt, and finally, our whole beings are consumed by our relationship in prayer with the Lord.
