I was going to be real spiritual...

Posted:05-14-2008

But those of you who know me, know that I am horrible at hiding my thoughts and emotions. So what emotions am I feeling since hearing the words from Bro. Mark's mouth that he was going in view of a call? Well... the first thought that hit my mind was "How on earth am I going to get those pin mounted letters with his name off the church sign"... so basically, I went fully into administrator mode and spent the entire night thinking strategically about the months ahead. As I type this entry I am sitting in the worship center only a few feet from where Bro. Mark wrote on the concrete floor during our campus launch. The words he wrote were "I am not ashamed of the gospel because it is the power of God for those who believe" Romans 1:16.  Now as I sit here and think of those words my mind drifts back over the past 52 years at Colonial Heights. Since the day a group of believers met in the home of Jim and Geneva White until today on this 60 acres God has provided, over the tenures of all 6 pastors... the vision of Colonial Heights has never changed... the vision has been and always will be to see people come to the saving knowledge of Christ. The blessing of Colonial Heights is WE are not ashamed of the gospel... WE boldly go and tell both here at home and around the world... WE will always be known as a church after God's own heart!

I pray for you daily and can't wait to see what God has in store for all of us!!!

Computers and Electric Power... too important!!

Posted:02-13-2008

The last few weeks have been very interesting in regards to the "amenities" we just have to have to be able to complete our daily tasks.  First, the server on which our church management software resides somehow ended up with corrupt files so had to be completely rebuilt.  During the same week, Comcast had some sort of outage that required them to come take our router back to the office to be reprogrammed so we were without internet and email for a full day... and then came the storms.  Over the last week storms have plowed through the state and this week the storm knocked out power to the Annex.

During the weeks of computer issues and now power issues it has amazed me how reliant on these "amenities" we have become.  No computer... no work can be done... no power.... no work can be done...

As I pondered this the Lord told me something... If we don't recharge with Him each morning... no work for Him can be done.

He is our power supply, our computer system, our Savior, our King!

Have you felt His power today?

Stewarding His Resources

Posted:01-29-2008

Each time I drive on the campus God has provided for Colonial Heights, I am amazed by the resources He has provided.  God is always at work through His people to provide the necessary items to reach this community for Christ.  But I must say there is a small but powerful band of people God has provided that make all the events and programs really work.  This team is our Property and Grounds department led by our Property Director, Linda Ignozzitto.  Linda and her team simply amaze me!  I hope you will take just a minute to thank them when you see them running down the hall to clean up a spill.
